Merging Departments Manually

  • Updated

Identify which departments are going to be merged in the structure. (It may be worth downloading the ‘Departments’ list to ensure you are merging the right departments)

Once you’ve identified these, go to the ‘Departments’ tab and find them in the structure

Delete the relevant departments:

Each time you delete a department, you will be met with a prompt which tells you how many employees it affects, click delete

This will then delete the departments from the structure and move those employees into a new artificial department called ‘Unassigned’

Now create your new department by adding a new individual department

Navigate to the ‘Employees’ tab. At the top of the page, use the ‘Filter by department’ function to filter the employee list by ‘Unassigned’:

1. The ‘Unassigned’ list will now contain all the employees that were part of those previous departments and now need re-assigning to the new department
2. On each employee, edit their ‘Department’. Choose the new department and click save. Repeat this for all of your employees on this list
3. Once you have reassigned them all, their responses against future Pulse surveys will be allocated to the new department

The new department will appear at the top level of your structure to begin with. Find it on the list and move this to its relevant place (either use the move functionality or the change parent functionality)

IMPORTANT: Please note when you delete departments, you will lose the ability to trend against previous pulse surveys
